Far too young and far too confident. After Napoleon scored his blistering series of lightning victories in northern Italy and with Masséna lounged against the Austrians. In 1796 Napoleon descended from the Alps cloaked in the mantle of republican lawgiver. A new dawn had came to Italy. Northern Italy would be irrevocably changed.
